Liz Gates

Liz founded HGO Technologies in 1986, which later on became one of the three companies that formed Omni. In addition to sharing her deep knowledge of technology and business, she takes a seat as a matriarch of sorts at Omni. You can thank Liz for the snack bowl in the Wheeling office!

Liz was born and raised in Wheeling, WV with 4 sisters and 1 brother where she was educated in a parochial school system. She earned mathematics degrees from Wheeling Jesuit University and the University of Pittsburgh before starting her IT career in 1969 as a Systems Analyst at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation.

Some time later, Liz founded HGO Technology — one of three businesses that merged to form Omni Strategic Technologies.

She also serves on the Board of Trustee at Belmont College, on the Board of Welty Home for the Aged, Inc., and on the Executive Committee of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges.

Liz is married to Richard Gates, formally of Clarington, Ohio and they have two grown children together, Ann and John.

Designed and supported the implementation of a fiber optic backbone on the Jefferson County Campus. The backbone consisted of the main switch room with sever secondary switch closets. Specified all the Cisco Catalyst switches.

IT Consulting, Network Engineering

Designed and supported the extension of the fiber optic infrastructure to the Department of Workforce and Community Outreach which was designed to go under John Scott Highway.

Jumped from $150,000 in the first year of operation to $1.9 Million in sales!

HGO was acquired and became Omni Strategic Technologies in 2013.

Won a new five-year, $5.5 million contract with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
